C. Truth
Biography

Sometimes we forget that those with great ability usually have an innate love for what they do. In this instance, the love of music has catapulted Brooklyn native, C. Truth into a position to teach and revitalize Hip-Hop.

Originally dubbed C.Truth Born, C.Truth began moving crowds through mix tapes, showcases and comedy shows. There he was able to groom his style and eventually move on to larger venues. Some of the larger venues included New York's SOB's, The Cutting Room, The Knitting Factory, Nuyourican Poets Café and The Point.

Once he successfully plateaued, C.Truth decided to strengthen his voice and educate a larger audience. In this marriage of love and natural ability C.Truth found his home - RADIO. Despite his already charismatic appeal and straight forward journalism practices, C.Truth learned the radio ropes by performing a myriad of positions. Truth has taken on the positions of Program/ Music Director of Hunter College Radio Station, General Manager & Treasurer of NY Radio Coalition, Music Editor for the online magazine BX Factor, Host & Moderator of Sista Cypher forum 2002, Contributing Writer to both on and offline newspapers, The Shield and DJ for Top Dog /Under Dog Benefit, 2002.

One of C.Truth's defining career moments was when Thermal SoundWaves debuted on WHCR (90.3 fm) in NYC. Established in 1995, this inventive and vibrant weekly program has strived to give all its listeners thought provoking commentary on world topics and music. Variety is embraced during this live 3 hour show with a music selection of Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and Reggae. Thermal SoundWaves avant-guarde play list unveils songs that would not be heard on mainstream radio shows & stations, but has definite public interest.

"My on air mission is to play music that commercial radio overlooks in addition to what they do play", says C.Truth. "I also like to play album cuts from established artists that would other wise not be heard."

In addition to music, C.Truth keeps balance by addressing social issues and occurrences that concern the urban community. Guests include entertainers from all aspects of the business. Both signed and unsigned artists are interviewed on the show and listeners are always encouraged to voice their opinions by calling, emailing and writing in. Dubbed "The Natural Alternative to Fast Food Radio," Thermal SoundWaves provides your daily nutrients of music, culture, and politics, all with an underlying soundtrack of timeless Hip-Hop.

The observable love that C.Truth's show has received has propelled him to reach a higher echelon in his career. Truth can now be heard on SIRIUS Satellite Radio Saturday's/Sunday's 7 am - 12 noon (est) on his new show, Inferno Radio.

For an already committed man, C.Truth is pursuing other projects and ventures that allow him to explore all of his talents.

  • C.Truth works as a peer instructor through the DJ Skills Program, a program devised to give high school students hands on experience at the art of deejaying. The program not only teaches a popular skill but also teaches youth to use this skill as a motivational tool.
  • C.Truth is half of the production team Diamond Disc-trict. Currently, the production team is working on music that will step away from the norm and inspire musical genius from its followers. Successive to production greats like the Neptune's, Dr. Dre and Quincy Jones, the Diamond Disc-trict intends on impacting the music industry with their definitive style and sound.
With a growing fan base, Hip-Hop acceptance and industry respect, C.Truth is fortified to take on new endeavors like voiceovers, hosting & moderating, acting, and writing for TV & film. With his sight set firmly on an achievable goal, C.Truth hopes to eventually host his own nationally syndicated radio and television show.
